Why do people get hyperhidrosis? Short-term and long-term side effects from ETS surgery Development of ETS surgery over the years ETS surgery is a highly expensive dream |
Botox injections are now commonly used to treat hyperhidrosis of the armpits and are highly effective (albeit requiring multiple expensive treatments a year). On the hands and feet, results are less impressive and the cost of the procedure is more expensive due to the application of more injections than in the armpits. Additionally, muscle and finger weaknesses in the hands and feet are frequently bothersome after the application of botox injections. On average, each hand and foot requires around 50 injections, while each armpit requires around 40 injections. All these numbers can vary depending upon the size of an individual's hands, feet and armpits; the amount of sweating in each area (i.e., the intensity and area of hyperhidrosis); and the practitioner's preference and experience in treating hyperhidrosis with botox injections. A good clinic or practitioner will perform an iodine starch test on the affected area first in order to check the intensity and exact areas of sweating before proceeding with the botox injections application. Treating two hands or two feet typically costs about $1,000 per patient, but again this will vary for the same reasons as the number of injections can vary. Armpits should cost a little under $1,000 for the pair. |
