Re: Driving with hyperhidrosis?

I am shocked no one has suggested a steering wheel cover. Seriously. Fuzzy/Furry/and or Grippy leather? any type would probably help. All of the above made my hands sweat more, especially leather! The only fabric that I could touch that didn't make my hands sweat was 100% cotton. I ended up keeping...

Re: Tranxene

[quote="KeithUK"]Hi, I am going to ask my dermatologist for a trial. I have been on pro-banthine for 7 years. The dry mouth is a pain in the *** but I couldn't go back to the sweating. There are side affects with all drugs and it is a matter of whether the side effects are worse than the sweating. T...

Re: My starting story...

Posted another update. See bottom of original post. Not going so well. Dear Graydwarf, Just reading your posts makes my hands start to sweat! I hope you find a solution soon. I was so afraid that my daughter would inherit my hand-sweating. She didn't, but my sister's daughter did, and my sister doe...

Re: AT MY WITS END w/ MY HYPERHIDROSIS! PLEASE HELP!

Concerning Tranxene: Like you, I wanted more info on Tranxene because it sounded too good to be true, and guess what? it is. Tranxene is a benzodiazepine. being a benzodiazepine, long term use (daily for over 3 months) is strongly discouraged. if you're not familiar with benzos, it's the same famil...

Re: My Horror Story

Sonya please give us more info about the drug you've been taking. You say it has given you absolutely 0 side affects and you have not build a tolerance to it for 15 years? And to this day your palms are bone dry?? Honestly, I didn't research side effects or anything else about this medication. I wa...

Re: My Horror Story

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Smitty. It is a medical condition that can cause tremendous stress for those of us who suffer. We don't tell our doctors because we are ashamed. I think this is one of the reasons that doctors don't consider it a condition that needs treatment. "Roll this liquid on y...

Re: AT MY WITS END w/ MY HYPERHIDROSIS! PLEASE HELP!

Golfer, Would this be true for such a low dose (3.75 mg), twice daily? If so, I will request that all of my posts about Tranxene be removed. Even though it has cured my HH, and allowed me to live a sweat-free life for many years, I don't want to encourage others to take something that might be harmf...

Re: Cured at last!

Hi Avantikaa, I'm sorry to hear that you suffer from HH too. It has been 16 years since I first started taking Tranxene, and I have had no side effects. It makes me more calm, which I think is a benefit, but it could just be that I am more calm because I don't have to worry about sweating anymore. M...

Re: I have hyperhidrotic hands and feet

Hi Cooky,

This site has many, many stories just like your's. Keep reading about what others have tried, and hopefully, you will find what works best for you. We can all sympathize with the excessive sweating issues. There is a lot of good advice in the posts on this site.

Good Luck!

Dear Admin,

Thanks so much for adding the link. I certainly hope you get some feedback from others who have tried this medicine, and had success.

Re: AT MY WITS END w/ MY HYPERHIDROSIS! PLEASE HELP!

Dear Admin, That would be great if you could post a link on your home page. I have emailed several clinical study groups in the past few days, hoping that one will agree to a clinical trial on hyperhidrosis, and/or night sweats. For me, the hand sweating affected so many aspects of my life - dating,...

Re: Cured at last!

It is somewhat annoying to always make sure I have at least one or two pills with me at all times, but not nearly as annoying as the constant sweating. I'm glad to know that iontophoresis is helping you. I've never tried it, but I've read a lot about it. There are some really good posts on this site ...

Re: Cured at last!

Your question made me wonder if a higher dosage would be in order at some point in my life. My doctor asks me at each visit (I have to go every six months), if it is still working for me, and so far it is. Maybe as I get older, the hyperhidrosis will be harder to manage at such a low dose. I hope th...

Re: Cured at last!

Hi Superyou, I didn't figure it out. My physician prescribed 3.75mg twice daily, which is about 1/10 the strength that is prescribed for seizures. I take one in the morning and one before bed. If I forget to take one in the morning, my hands will start sweating as soon as I get to work. If I forget ...

Re: AT MY WITS END w/ MY HYPERHIDROSIS! PLEASE HELP!

Hi Trotter, I too, have looked for scientific evidence and/or clinical trials regarding Tranxene as it relates to excessive sweating. I have found nothing. I recall my doctor bringing a medical journal into the examining room when we had tried everything else he could think of. I thought that was od...
