Herbal Remedies for Hyperhidrosis

• Boil a quart of water with four or five teabags, and soak your hands in them for twenty minutes a day. The tannic acid in tea has astringent properties that can be used as a natural antiperspirant. If you don’t have time to boil them, you could simply hold tea bags between your palms for fifteen minutes a day.

• Cypress oil is believed to reduce overactive sweat and oil glands, as it has a direct effect on the nervous system. When rubbed onto the palms this oil causes perspiration to quickly evaporate. Cypress oil contains about 10% alcohol, which contributes to the drying effect.

• Try rubbing cornstarch or baby powder between your palms. These powders can absorb the sweat to keep your hands dry. This method will reduce the amount of sweat on your hands. You should especially do this before you work out.

• Apple cider vinegar taken with two teaspoons of honey before each meal is supposed to prevent sweating. For best results, take this mixture orally about thirty minutes before eating. You can also apply apple cider vinegar onto your hands topically. Allow your hands to dry before touching anything.

Diet Modification Cures for Sweaty Hands

Sometimes excess sweating is caused by certain foods. Cutting these foods out of your diet will help reduce perspiration. Foods rich in iodine in particular should be avoided. Eating too much salt will also cause a foul odor to be emitted through sweating. There are also certain meats and vegetables you should avoid eating, including liver, beef, broccoli, and onions.

Stimulants such as caffeine can cause perspiration imbalances. However, cutting caffeine out of your diet might not be enough to cure sweaty hands. You might have to try eliminating salty foods from your diet as well.

Drinking a lot of water should help reduce the foul odor associated with perspiration. You will find yourself going to the bathroom more if you increase your intake of water. This can be a good thing since it will eliminate the toxins and chemicals in your body, which will result in less sweating.
