Excellent summary from Japan (2000 ETS's per year in Japan)

The above article was published in 2004.

Trying to figure out how many ETSs are performed each year worldwide is very difficult (but an interesting endeavour) because there are countless surgeons who undertake less than 50 ETSs a year.

Page 7 of the above article states that around 2,000 ETSs are carried out in Japan each year.

I would bet that China, Taiwan and the US each have much higher numbers per year. Israel, Italy, Finland, Brazil and Germany also seem to have some highly experienced surgeons performing ETS on a daily basis.

The Japanese also seem to now cauterize T-3 and T-4 for hand sweating instead of T-2 only or T-2-T-3 or T-2-T-4.

Anyone have a clue about how many ETS surgeries are done in the United States each year?

You can make a reasonable estimate for the US by checking out:

Every major hospital in the US performs this surgery, but the most experienced surgeons are private, and some of them have many legal cases against them lately.
