Heart rate reduction after ETS increases life span??
So if heart rate decreases after ETS surgery...does that mean you will live longer since your heart will have less work to do?
No, it only means that you will be fatigued easily because your heart can not keep up with your activities (like exercise). It also means that because of your lowered heart rate, you will no be able to achieve the same speed (when running) or endure the same physical activity for extended periods. You will feel like there is something not quite right and will feel uneasy and anxious because of it - as we are aware, even if on an unconscious level of the internal environment.
There is a likelihood hat you will also not loose weight so easily, because you will not be able to get your heart pumpin', burning the calories.
Several reports also demonstrate significantly lower heart rate increases during exercise in subjects who have undergone bilateral ISS [9–12] compared to pre-surgical levels. In spite of this high occurrence, recent reviews on the usual collateral effects of thoracic sympathectomy still do not include these possible cardiac consequences [6].
