Advice please

Post by Joel »

Ive been suffering from Hyperhidrosis for some time now but in the last six months it has worsened. I have been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and subsequently now take Thyroxine to treat this. I have had numerous blood tests to check that my thyroid levels are correct (which they are) as I was worried that I was taking too much Thyroxine causing me to have an overactive thyroid which I know can cause the sweating.

The sweating is generalised, really bad facial sweating and pretty much the whole of my body. I don’t think its anxiety related as it can occur when im just doing a bit of gardening or work around the house. I’ve been to see my GP who prescribed me Beta Blockers which did absolutely nothing apart from make me feel incredibly tired.
I’ve cut out caffeine and tried special deodorants but this has had no affect.

Im trying to learn more about the condition and various treatments and just wanted some advice from anyone who could help.

Thanks in advance

Joel, A Lot of people have the all over sweating and of coarse there is more localized sweating ,Hands,Feet,Face , Underarms ect. , I know I had sweating on hands and feet all of my life, and it seems the localized is easier to treat than the whole body.If its just hands for example you can try the home made set up or a drionic unit ect, Since you have tried some medications so far without much results you may want to see if your doctor knows about Ditropan or Rubinul -I did take them and had some success but I do not really like taking any medications if i can help it and finally figured out that I could address the problem another way or with the electric current ,I would say read as much as possible in the forums and look up the drugs I mentioned and see if that may give you some results and continue to consult with your doctor,

Thanks for the reply Mowrey.
I have been back to see my GP who is going to refer me to a specialist. In the meantime he has prescribed me with Oxybutynin (which I think is Ditropan?) The tablets are 5mg and he advised me to experiment with the dosage starting with one tablet in the morning. As of yet they dont seem to be making a difference. I wondered if anyone else is taking this medication and if so what sort of quantities are they taking?

Thanks

Joel
