Re: My 2001 ELS story
JR31 thanks for this great update. It will help many people since not too many people who have had open lumbar sympathectomy or endoscopic lumbar sympathectomy (ELS) come by and post testimonials. In the entire world, there are probably less than 5,000 people who have had lumbar sympathectomy to tre...

DARPA to treat bodies with light, electricity, sound, magnet
Interesting article. The part that caught my eye and that is most relevant to people like us is about controlling our parasympathetic nervous system (which counters the overactive sympathetic nervous system). http://www.cnet.com/news/darpa-seeks-to-treat-bodies-with-light-electricity-sound-and-magne...

Re: could it be HH?
This is hard to answer. For many people (including myself) the sweating only started around puberty. No issues in our childhood. Some people get sweating as infants, but then it subsides in their teens or before. Avoid surgery for sure (and I doubt most surgeons would consider it at such a young age...

Re: New member
Welcome JR31! Sorry to hear about your side effects. Can you describe in more detail the type of surgery you had (T-2 ETS and L-2 lumbar sympathectomy or lower?) and the exact nature of your side effects? Did your hand and feet sweating stop completely? Can you also post something in the ELS forum a...

ETS T-4 and effect on feet sweating
As most surgeons have now moved to cutting/clamping T-4 for hand sweating, the below is an important study that shows how many of the patients getting T-4 cut/clamped for hand sweating also see a reduction in feet sweating. A little over 40 percent seem to see this second benefit. http://www.sweathe...
