Young days
My sweating started from being very young holding my mothers hand, she had said that my hands were always warm but never wet or sweaty. As time went on and i became a teenager, things started getting worse, my hands went from being warm to very sweaty and I then realised that my armpits and feet were the same during p.e and after school activities. As being a bubbly girl who likes to socialise I felt as if I could never let my true personality come out , due to in any case someone having to touch my hand during contact etc. When it came to going on holiday I begin to realise that i could not even wear foam sandles due to the sweat bubbling up into my toes etc , i would accidently skid a few times whilst walking as well due to the wetness.
Doctor appointments
I eventually came round to telling my mother about this and she never understood how truly horrible it was to have this, you find that no one knows unless you have it yourself, its as if its ruining your life. I got to the point where i eventually went to the doctors to see about treatment, i remember showing the doctors my hands and dying inside with embarrassment even though they are used to seeing worse case of things. For my armpits i was offered a driclor solution which you apply at night most nights, I was relieved that after a week of using it had worked on my armpits!. The doctor had suggested that i could also use this on my hands, which i tried and it failed to work. So unfortunately i was back at square one with my hands. I went back to the doctors a few times requesting different things that i had seen online had worked for people.
Botox injections
After waiting about 2 year using different creams etc that didnt work i was referred to a hospital were i would be put to sleep and get botox in my palms. At this point i didnt know whether to feel relieved or not due to being let down by all of the other treatments i had been given. After i had the botox i was sitting in the waiting area waiting to come round from my anesthetic , i felt my palms and they were as sweaty as they had ever been , i had a few bruises off where the needles had been inserted. I then said to the nurse " i dont think it has worked" she assured me by ssaying it takes a couple of days. Ive now been waiting for 3 days for it to work and still nothing has changed. I am going to wait another few days to see if it has improved.
what to do now?
I have started to think about my problems more than ever have, ive started to become more unsociable because i cannot simply bare the embarrassment any more. Im starting to think that the only thing left would be surgery, which the doctor also informed me that when the nerve glands are cut in your hands , the sweating can then lead to else where (legs, back etc) . For now i am going to wait another few days to see if the botox has actually been worth while or another waste of time!. I will get back to whoever needs advice on any treatments ive recieved.
